Established in 1998, we have more experience than anyone in York for UV tanning. Our aim is to provide the highest of services with superb results. Upright and Laydown tanning with unparalleled levels of knowledge within the tanning industry. Our owner has imported equipment and trained staff for not only Spa, Hotels and elite health clubs, but is renowned within the industry for his honest and professional approach. Sessions are in increments of one minute for your safety, ie tanning times start at 3/4/5 etc. The majority of new clients will start at around 4 to 6 mins, however this maybe higher dependent upon skin type. Nobody with a type 1 skin type (characterized by pale skin that is very sensitive to sun exposure) should ever tan.

The difference with our salon is the advice initially given and then the continued support.

Prices start at 75p per minute for single sessions and block bookings start at 60p per minute, but price should never be the main criteria when your health is at stake. At Sunshine & The Beauty Within, as with all our treatments, your health is our main concern. So, pre-holiday tanning, skin treatments ie Acne, Psoriasis, Arthritis, and the list goes on.

Finally, we promote “Sensible Tanning” and always have done since 1998. UV tanning has many benefits, but moderation is the key and should be strictly observed.

A short guide to a perfect spray tan

Prepare – The first steps to getting the perfect spray tan happens before you even get to the tanning salon.

• Shower, shave and ex-foliate your skin.
• Avoid using moisturisers and lotions that are not specially formulated for spray tanning before your session.
• Avoid wearing perfumes or make-up that provides a barrier for absorption.
• Wear loose fitting clothing to your session.

Protect – Your spray tan will last up to 7 days. We suggest you:

• Wait at least 4 hours before bathing, swimming or coming in contact with water.
• Avoid engaging in activities that cause you to sweat heavily until your tan has fully developed (at least 4 hours).
• Moisturise daily with a post-spray tan product.
